FAQ
Most clients experience mild redness or slight swelling in the treated area immediately after their appointment, similar to a light sunburn. This typically resolves within a few hours. Temporary pigment changes are uncommon but can occur, particularly if sun exposure guidelines aren't followed before or after treatment. Serious side effects are rare when treatments are performed correctly on properly assessed skin. Your provider will review your skin type and medical history before your first session to make sure laser hair removal is the right fit for you.
We do not treat directly over tattooed skin, as the laser can target the pigment. You can still get treated even if you have tattoos. Your provider will avoid treating the skin over or near your tattoos.
Yes. Shaving is fine and actually required. We ask that you shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before each appointment. After your treatment, wait at least 7 days before shaving again to let your skin settle.
Yes. We use dual-wavelength laser platforms that include both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers. Nd:YAG is specifically well-suited for darker skin tones because it targets the hair follicle with a wavelength that minimizes the risk of skin damage or pigmentation changes.
Injections can involve a brief pinching sensation, but we offer numbing cream to minimize pain. You may feel tenderness at the injection site after treatment.
Much less than most people expect. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick sting, similar to a tiny rubber band snap. Our machines are equipped with a cold air device that eases the sting, for a more comfortable treatment experience.
Yes. We use dual-wavelength laser platforms (Candela GentleMax Pro and Cynosure Elite iQ) with Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers, which are proven safe and effective for all skin types and tones, including for clients with deeper skin tones.

The most important thing: complete your pre-treatment forms and avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before your treatment. Stop using harsh skincare or other topical ingredients specific in your pre-treatment guidance. Arrive with the treatment area freshly shaved (24 to 48 hours before) and free of lotions, deodorant, or self-tanner. For our full pre-treatment guidance, visit our laser hair removal page.
Laser hair removal targets pigment in the hair follicle to permanently reduce hair growth. A Laser Facial targets the skin's surface to improve tone, texture, and clarity. They use different laser parameters and treat completely different concerns, but they can be part of the same overall care plan.
This depends on the filler type and the area treated. Most hyaluronic acid fillers (like Juvéderm) last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Your provider will discuss realistic expectations for your specific treatment during your appointment.
A facial treatment is approximately 15 minutes, easy to fit into a lunch break or between errands.
Results from Botox® or Xeomin® typically last 3 to 4 months. With regular maintenance appointments, many clients find their results last longer over time as the treated muscles relax and respond better to each session.
Most Sev Skin treatments require little to no downtime. You can return to most daily activities right away. Some redness or mild swelling is normal and typically fades within a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the treatment.
For the first 72 hours after treatment, avoid intense exercise, saunas, and hot tubs. Keep the area clean, use gentle products, and protect your skin from direct sun. Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment.
Most clients see noticeable improvement after 4 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your specific skin concerns.
Results vary by person and treatment area. We typically recommend a minimum of 8 sessions for more responsive areas, with some body parts requiring a minimum of 12 treatments. During your introductory session, your provider will give you an estimate based on your skin type, hair color, and the areas you want treated.
Pricing varies by service, treatment area, and geographic location, with laser hair removal starting at $29 per session. For most services, we offer three ways to pay: single sessions, 8-session packages, and memberships that include ongoing treatments. Our pricing page lays it all out clearly.
For best results, we recommend coming in every 4 to 6 weeks. This timing allows us to target each hair at the right stage of its growth cycle, which is key to maximizing your long-term results.
We recommend getting the Laser Facial every two to four weeks. Your provider can help you figure out the right frequency based on your skin goals.
For active skin improvement, a series of bi-monthly treatments over 3 to 6 months delivers the most noticeable results. For ongoing maintenance, one session every 4 to 6 weeks keeps your skin in a consistently healthy, collagen-rich state.
Laser hair removal is FDA-approved as a permanent hair reduction method. The majority of our clients see complete or significant permanent reduction in hair growth after completing their treatment plan. In some cases, hormonal changes can trigger some regrowth. If that happens, a quick touch-up is all you need.
Yes. Laser hair removal is an FDA-approved treatment with a well-established safety record when performed with the right technology and by qualified providers. At Sev Skin, trained nurses or licensed providers perform every treatment using FDA-cleared equipment, with built-in cooling to protect your skin throughout the session.
You can absolutely continue treatments during summer, but sun safety becomes especially important. Recent sun exposure or tanning in the treatment area raises the risk of pigmentation changes or irritation. We recommend avoiding unprotected sun exposure for at least two weeks before each session and applying broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to treated areas.
No. You can go straight back to your day after treatment. Some clients notice mild redness immediately after, which typically resolves within a few hours.
Most clients experience redness, mild sensitivity, or flakiness for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. We'll walk you through aftercare instructions to keep your skin comfortable and support your results.
We offer neurotoxin treatments (Botox®, Xeomin®) for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and dermal fillers (Juvéderm®) for volume and definition. Every treatment is tailored to your features and individual goals. Visit our cosmetic injections page to learn more.
A Laser Facial is a gentle Nd:YAG laser treatment that targets redness, blemishes, and early signs of aging. It leaves the skin looking clearer and brighter while supporting long-term collagen production. It’s suitable for nearly all skin types. Each session takes about 15 minutes with zero downtime.
A lip flip uses a small amount of neurotoxin (like Xeomin® or Botox®) to relax the muscles just above the upper lip, causing it to gently roll outward for a subtle, fuller appearance without adding volume. Lip filler is made of hyaluronic acid, which plumps up the lips and adds volume. Your provider can help you decide which option fits your goal or whether combining both makes sense for you.
SkinPen® is an FDA-cleared microneedling device that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing response and promoting rapid collagen and elastin production. It's effective for fine lines, acne scars, texture, and overall firmness, and it's safe for all skin tones.
The laser hair removal membership includes 18 months of treatments, and once you complete your plan, you receive one free touch-up per year for life. It’s available for all treatment areas and provides the best value for clients committed to lasting results.
Cancelling is free when done 48 hours or more before your appointment. Canceling within 48 hours, missing your appointment, or arriving more than 5 minutes may result in a fee equal to 50% of the single service price, or loss of your deposit. See our Terms & Conditions for details.
We use the Candela GentleMax Pro and the Cynosure Elite iQ depending on the location. Both platforms use Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser technologies, allowing us to effectively treat all skin types safely.
Laser hair removal is our most popular service, available at every Sev Skin studio. Most locations also offer a full menu of skin and body treatments, including Laser Facials, SkinPen® Microneedling, and cosmetic injections (Botox®, Xeomin®, and Juvederm®). Additional services vary by location, so check your nearest studio's page or call them to confirm what's offered.
Skip anything besides aloe or sunscreen on the treatment area for the first 24 hours. Avoid intense workouts, hot tubs, and saunas for 72 hours. Don't shave, exfoliate, or use harsh skincare products for at least a week. Stay off prescription retinoids like tretinoin for two weeks, and avoid unprotected sun exposure for your entire treatment journey.
Most clients begin to see their muscles relax within 3 to 7 days, with full results visible at around 2 weeks. We recommend scheduling a follow-up if you have any questions about your outcome.
We have 70+ locations across the United States, in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, the Bay Area, Las Vegas, Dallas, and more. Find the studio nearest to you on our locations page.
Almost everyone. It's particularly well-suited for clients dealing with persistent redness, flushing, blemishes, enlarged pores, or dull and uneven skin tone. It's also a strong collagen-maintenance treatment for clients who want to slow loss of firmness or formation of fine lines. Because it uses an Nd:YAG laser, it's safe across all skin tones.
Laser hair removal may not be recommended if you are currently pregnant, have active skin infections in the treatment area, are taking certain photosensitizing medications, or have had significant recent sun exposure or tanning in the area to be treated. Before your appointment, we will conduct medical clearance to make sure we can treat you safely.
All cosmetic injections are performed by nurses and nurse practitioners.
We've built our reputation for combining advanced aesthetic treatments with an experience that actually feels good. Our nurses and providers take time to listen before recommending anything. Our flexible, transparent pricing means there are no surprises or guessing games.
Waxing is painful, requires you to grow your hair out before each appointment, and needs to be repeated every few weeks indefinitely. Laser hair removal is more comfortable, lets you keep shaving in between sessions, and delivers long-lasting results. When you factor in the lifetime cost of professional waxing versus a Sev Skin package or membership, the math is pretty clear.
